Zindgi Hai Tu Koi Baat Nahin Aye Dost
My grandpa (may his soul rest in peace) used to read this poem, that I’m going to state below, to my Mum back in 1998 when he was not well. A while ago, say almost a year, while going through his documents I found this poem written on a paper dated 28-2-1953.
I’m stating only the last quatrain since the rest of the poem is in persian. And that happens to be beyond my knowledge.
“Mil he jata hai safino ko kinara aakhir
zindgi dhoond he leti hai sahara aakhirKisi na kisi roz shab-i-gham ki sehar bhi hogi
zindgi hai tu musarat se basar bhi hogi”
I like hopeless shairs too (balkay they’re babr shairs.)
“Kub tak isay seencho ge taman-e-samar mein
Yeh sabar ka pauda tu na phola na phala hai”
Faiz, October ‘88

Asma,
Faiz’s shair is not hopeless only if you’ve read the complete poem. Baqi rahi baat hopelessness se hope paida honay ki tu her kisi ka apna apna mizaj hota hai.”
Dr. EssJee,
The poem was indeed written by him.
Thank-you.
